Along the way, explore remarkable archaeological sites, including Salapunku, K’anabamba, and Wayna Q’ente. Camp near the impressive Patallacta site for your first night under the stars.
After breakfast, follow the narrow Kusichaca Valley, passing more fascinating Inca sites before reaching Huayllabamba for lunch. In the afternoon, tackle a challenging ascent to Llulluchapampa, where you’ll camp with stunning views of Huayanay Mountain and the Andean forest.
Today’s trek is both challenging and rewarding, as you conquer two high mountain passes. Begin with a 2-hour climb to Warmiwañuska (Dead Woman’s Pass) at 4,215m (13,829ft), followed by a descent and another ascent to Runkuraqay Pass at 4,000m (13,123ft). End your day at Phuyupatamarca, the most beautiful campsite along the trail, offering breathtaking views of the Andes.
Wake up to a sunrise that lights up the Andes. This day is packed with highlights as you visit Phuyupatamarca, Intipata, and Wiñaywayna before reaching the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) for your first view of Machu Picchu. Arrive at the citadel in the afternoon when it’s nearly empty, allowing you to explore in peace. Spend the night in a 3-star hotel in Aguas Calientes.
Take the early bus to Machu Picchu and enjoy a guided tour of the iconic site, visiting its most significant areas. After some free time, head back to Aguas Calientes for lunch. In the afternoon, board the Vistadome panoramic train to Ollantaytambo and a private van back to Cusco, where your adventure concludes.
