For those wishing to explore the jungle, learn about the flora and fauna, meet indigenous people and maybe even experience a thrill or two along the way, this tour is perfect!.   Spend three days and two nights deep in the Amazon and return home refreshed, inspired and ready to share amazing stories about your experience. 

The tour begins at 8:30 am from the Akangau Jungle Expeditions office in Tena.  Travel by bus to the Punta region then by motorized canoe along the Napo River and explore different areas along the way.

The first stop is a guided tour in the jungle to an ancient Ceibo tree, believed to be more than 200 years old!  The guide will also point out various plants, fruits and trees along the way.  After the hike, continue down the river to visit a local Kichwa indigenous family.  They will give a tour of their cacao farm then teach you how to make chocolate!

For the adventurous at heart, continue the next leg of the journey by floating down the river in an inner tube, which is considered a mild, class I aquatic sport.    This activity is optional and continuing by canoe is also available.

However you go, the next stop is to the animal rescue center, AmaZOOnico.  Learn how they rehabilitate, reintroduce and care for animals that have been victims of illegal trafficking.  Not all animals can be reintroduced but those who can, are set loose in a nearby protected forest called Selva Viva.

We will visit by canoe the monkeys island. who live in their natural state.

The next stop along the Napo River tour is to visit another local family and spend time at the Caiman Lake.  Also, we learn about indigenous weapons, tools and traps, some of which are still being used by the people today.

Lunch

After lunch, it’s time to travel towards the Upper Amazon to the Uchuculin Village.  After a short walk through the jungle, you will arrive at the Eco-Dreams Lodge.  Settle in and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before meeting at the dining room for a delicious meal.

After dinner, relax in the hammocks and prepare for the next day’s exciting adventures

 Start off the day with a nourishing breakfast then set out on an epic three-hour journey into the jungle paradise. You will walk to an impressive viewpoint that overlooks the jungle canopy and the Napo River below. Along the way, your knowledgeable guide will point out interesting plants and animals and explain how the indigenous utilize their surroundings to survive in a harmonic way.
Return to the lodge for a traditional lunch and, if you like, partake in the local tradition of a restful siesta!
In the afternoon, travel to the mythical “Route of the Dreams”. This is a thousand-year-old pathway that was used by ancient people to travel between communities and to the Napo River. It is a place that is ripe with ancient cultural heritage and sustainable tourism efforts work towards conserving this enchanting place. Along the way, you will visit the Kali Kali caves where parrots meet once a year to mate. This ancient path travels across clean waters and lush canyons.
Return to the lodge for dinner then we will light up a campfire and share a traditional Amazonian drink called Guayusa tea. 

 After breakfast, embark on a journey to the Pimpilala Waterfalls. Pimplala means “butterfly” in the indigenous Kichwa language. The falls gained this name because of the abundance of butterflies in the area. The ancients used this place to perform sacred bathing rituals and connect with the spirits of the jungle.
Take a guided tour through the lush canyons, crossing the Pimpilala River and passing many smaller waterfalls. Climb a waterfall to reach the majestic Devil’s Face Waterfall and slip into the refreshing waters of its natural pool. Float freely for a moment and let the spirit of the jungle overtake you. Parts of this hike are technical and our expert guides will assist when necessary.
After a healthy lunch prepare your things and take a private vehicle back to Tena.
