We are honored to welcome the USS William Wood DD-715 shipmates, families, and friends to beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado, September 7–11, 2026!

This reunion is a special opportunity to reconnect with longtime friends, share stories and memories, honor those who served alongside you, and celebrate the lasting bonds created through your service aboard the USS William Wood.

During your time in Colorado Springs, you’ll experience some of the area’s incredible scenery and attractions, including the breathtaking Pikes Peak Cog Railway, beautiful Garden of the Gods, and the fascinating National Museum of World War II Aviation.

Most importantly, we hope these days give you plenty of time for camaraderie, laughter, remembrance, and making new memories together.

8:15 AM Shuttle will depart

This is the world’s highest and the world’s longest cog railroad, the highest railroad in the United States and the entire Northern Hemisphere, in fact. One of only two cog railways in the country, but the only one that takes you to the summit of America’s Mountain, one of the most famous mountains in the United States.

The Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway is one of the most unique experiences in the country. Train ride, yes, but this is an adventure experience that is so much more than just a journey on the train.

• The aircraft collection at the National Museum of World War II Aviation features 28 fully restored flying aircraft, and several on-going restoration projects

• The National Museum of World War II Aviation houses an extensive collection that includes more than 4,000 artifacts and historical documents from one of the most crucial periods in America’s history.

• In addition to its aircraft collection, the National Museum of World War II Aviation has several fully restored and operational vehicles that were used by US forces and their allies during the war.

Garden of the Gods – Tour, Movie & Museum

Experience the spectacular beauty of Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center, one of Colorado Springs’ most iconic attractions. Enjoy a short scenic tour featuring the park’s towering red sandstone formations and breathtaking views of Pikes Peak. Then visit the Visitor & Nature Center to watch the fascinating Geo-Trekker movie, which explores how these incredible rock formations came to be, and browse the interactive museum exhibits highlighting the area’s geology, wildlife, history, and natural beauty.
