Our day starts really early in the morning (06:30) so grab your coffee and get ready to experience not one, but two whale watching boat rides off of the shores of Puerto Chale. Puerto Chale is about 2.5 hours away from La Paz and it is a very small fishing town with barely any tourism infrastructure. Please make sure you take everything you need including sunscreen and snacks. An on-the-go breakfast will be provided for you, but we always encourage guests to have some snacks of their own as well as water. Examples of on-the-go breakfasts are vegetable burritos, chilaquiles with refried beans and fruits.
We will leave our B&B at 06:30am in order to get a good head start and get to Puerto Chale as reasonably early as possible. Whales like to start their days early, especially when training their calves for survival, so starting our day to match their own is often rewarded with a viewing full of whale action.
At Puerto Chale, we will embark on first our whale watching adventure. We will be out in open sea for 2 hours observing the gray whales. Our guide will give you thorough information about the biology and behavior of whales. When in doubt, ask away! All of our guides are biologists, ethologists, marine biologists or wildlife experts who are extremely knowledgeable about the area and its fauna.
After our 2-hour mark, we will head back to the port and wait for about 30 to 40 minutes for our next trip. Once we are finished with our second whale watching expedition (another 2 hours long) lunch will be served at a family-run eatery. Examples of included lunches are mushroom or potato sopes, tacos dorados de papa, vegan (or veggie) red or green enchiladas, rice, beans, and various salads. These are all examples only and are subject to change without notice. We return to La Paz around 5pm.
The evening is free for you to explore La Paz.
