About this trip

The aim of this tour is for you to enjoy the Teotihuacan pyramids while also supporting the local economy and enjoying an authentic, homemade lunch cooked by locals at their home. The tour is designed for your money to stay in the community.

We'll go on public transport to the North Bus station in Mexico City. We'll take a public bus to Teotihuacan and once there, you will be introduced to your local guide who will explain the history of the pyramids.

You'll be taken to an obsidian workshop run by a local family. You will get to try their homemade pulque among other local delicacies such as marmalade and homemade salsa.

After having sipped mezcal, tequila & pulque, we will visit another family-run business: A xoconostle candy and snack project. You will have a family member explain the whole process.

Finally, we will go to a local's house and have a vegan/veggie homemade lunch that consists of agua fresca and traditional Mexican dishes such as tlacoyos, arroz & much more.

The market tour and cooking class was the highlight of our Mexico City trip! We are a family of five, including one teenager and two elementary school kids, and we all had a fabulous time! We visited markets that we never would have made it to on our own, learned a bit about the history of Mexico City, and made huaraches! It was SO fun to get our hands in the dough and get to cook the huaraches on the big griddle. Eating them was even more fun! My daughter said it was the best meal she had our entire trip! Sharon was our guide, and we loved spending the morning with her! She was so fun and accommodating with the kids, it was like hanging out with a friend:)

We had an awesome time with Mena for this tour! She is incredibly knowledgable, warm, and easy to talk to. We learned so much and ate lots of delicious foods! I love that she makes it a point to support family owned (often women or indigenous owned) businesses!

This street food tour is a fantastic way to learn about the neighborhoods that maybe you would not have otherwise known to visit. There is delicious vegetarian and vegan food all over CDMX. On this tour you will taste food made lovingly by locals and learn about the city, past and present. It’s great information to have both for the first time traveler and those that are looking for more unique places to try. Mena is a wealth of knowledge and I especially enjoyed hearing about the social affairs of the people in Mexico City. She makes the tour so much fun, it’s like walking the neighborhoods with friends. Come hungry because you will be incredibly full by the end!

We had a fulfilling travel tour with Sharon! Walked through the different neighborhoods in downtown Mexico City, discovered some amazing vegetarian and vegan tacos. The vegan Chicharrón and exotic mushrooms were definitely the highlight. The tour was about 4.5 hours and we were absolutely amazed with the food, local people and the views of the city. Would recommend the food tour to anyone looking to explore vegetation Mexican food in CDMX.
