3pm onwards Arrival and Check-in.

6:30 pm - Meet and greet in reception at the Casa Cardinale
Course orientation and welcome drink

·7:30 pm Welcome Dinner at nearby Trattoria

Day 2 'Cannaregio'
· 7:30 am-9 am - Breakfast

· 9 am-1 pm - First Painting location -Canneregio (approx. 4hrs including break)

· Tutor led demonstration followed by practical time.

· 1 pm - Lunch (Pranzo.) at Restaurant Diana nearby. (tutor will accompany.)

· 3:15 pm-6 pm - Colour theory practical-tutor lead demonstration

· 7 pm Aperitivi and critique of works produced. (Bar area)

· 7:30 pm Dinner

· 8:30 pm Evening Stroll and Site Seeing into the San Polo district.

· 11 pm return to casa Cardinale

· 8 am Boat trip to the islands of Burano.

· Second Painting Location-Fishermen’s Village. (approx. 4hours including break and journey time.)

· Tutor led demonstration followed by practical time.

· 1 pm Lunch (tutor will accompany.)

· 2:30 pm Boat trip to Murano.

· Time to explore the glass studios and museums or sit and paint.
· Tutor will accompany.

· 6 pm Return

· 7 pm Aperitivi and critique of works produced. (Bar area)

· 7:30 pm Dinner

· 8:30 pm – Evening Stroll and Site Seeing into Castello district
· 11pm return to casa Cardinale

· Walk short distance and take a Traghetto to the Rialto Fish Market.

· 8:30 am-12:30 pm tutor lead demonstration followed by practical time.

· (approx. 3and1/2hour painting time.)

· Lunch on the go or at Casa Cardinale to be determined.

· 2 pm -3:30 pm Tutor lead demonstration in the garden or studio at Casa Cardinale.

· 3:30 pm -6 pm un-supervised exercise time for students-(approx. 1 ½ -4hrs)

· 7 pm - Apperitivi and critique of works produced.

· 7:30 pm Dinner

· 8:30 pm -10 pm Evening Class exploring views of Venice on topics related to Perspective, Placement and Proportion.

· Tutor led Demonstration with practical time!

· 10-30 am Gallery Visit - Galleria dell’Accademia (approx. 40mins walk to the
Dorsoduro district)

· 12:30 pm Lunch at Osteria Al Squero.

· 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm Painting the view of Squero di San Trovaso (the last remaining working Boatyard.)

· Stroll back taking in the magnificent views of the Grand Canal and San Marco

· 6 pm-7 pm - Apperitivi and critique of works produced. (San Marco District)

· 7:30 pm Dinner

· 8:30 pm -10 pm Evening Class exploring views of Venice on topics related to Perspective, Placement and Proportion.

Oh my gosh. I thought I had done this. Im not sure which trip but both Cinque Terre and Venice watercolor retreats were beyond fantastic!!! Accommodations were central but out of crazy crowded areas and very comfortable. The painting locations were stunning and made so much more memorable by studying, drawing and painting them. I would do both all over again!!!! Thank you so much, John and Yana!!!!

John was fully dedicated during all the time. His experience is obvious and I guess that his suggestions and instructions helped me to move forward with my painting. The most important aspect of this experience is, that I had great time during the artistic retreat with John and my class mates. I am for sure interested to have another one in a future.

The Venice retreat was spectacular. We stayed in a quiet neighborhood very close to wonderful local restaurants. We painted in beautiful locations, enjoyed walks through the city and took in the fabulous sights that only Venice can provide. John is an excellent teacher. He teaches in a supportive and easy to follow manner with humor and understanding. My painting skills have improved immensely. I highly recommend this extraordinary painting retreat.
