Wanaka provides one of the South Island’s main rock climbing destinations. Hospital Flat, an area that boasts thousands of established rock climbs throughout the grade range for all abilities. It is just 20 20-minute drive from Wānaka town centre, set in the beautiful, idyllic setting of the Matukituki Valley, the gateway to Mount Aspiring National Park. Our guided rock climbing days and half days include transport from Wānaka, all technical equipment and rock shoe hire.

You can meet at the Wānaka Mountain Guides Base or your guide can pick you up from your accommodation in town at 8:30. In the summer we will seek out the shade (usually with a cooling dip in the secret local spots along the Motutapu River or Lake Wānaka during the day). Half days return by 13:00 and full days by 17:00.
