July and August is the dry season for Bali. Bali is an Indonesian island esteemed for its unique and deeply ingrained Hindu culture, where a blend of traditional Balinese customs, animistic beliefs, and elements of Indian Hinduism permeate almost every aspect of daily life, manifested through elaborate ceremonies, intricate temple architecture, vibrant festivals, and a strong emphasis on respecting nature and the spiritual realm, making it often referred to as the "Island of the Gods.".
Ubud, located in the central highlands of Bali, Indonesia, is often called the "cultural heart" of the island, renowned for its stunning rice paddies, traditional Balinese art, temples, yoga studios, and a vibrant artistic community, making it a popular destination for those seeking a mix of natural beauty and cultural immersion. Visitors can explore lush rice terraces, wander through the Sacred Monkey Forest, hike the scenic Campuhan Ridge Walk, and experience traditional Balinese dance performances at the Ubud Palace.
This retreat is a true cultural immersion. Our home for the week will be the beautiful Shala Bali, a yoga retreat center and Ayurvedic spa in the heart of Ubud. Shala Bali is a lush sanctuary surrounded by rice paddies, jungle flora and fauna, and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. There is a beautiful pool and lounge area to enjoy and relax at between classes and activities.
The spa at Shala Bali offers an array of healing modalities including different types of massage and Ayurvedic treatments. There are two vegetarian restaurants within Shala Bali offering delicious vegetarian/vegan Indian food options. There will also be opportunities to eat out in Ubud where there are vegetarian and non vegetarian options!
Shala Bali has a lovely Yoga Shala where we will have our daily practice. It has a view of rice paddies and palm trees. The rooms are all unique and special with private bathrooms, some have outdoor showers and bathtubs. Rooms can accommodate single, double, or triple occupancies.
