We would like to briefly comment on the issue with the price of Kilimanjaro hike, to add some context. Mt Kilimanjaro is in a protected National Park, with the entry fee alone making up more than half of the charged price. The remaining amount covers logistics, food, and guide salaries. Furthermore, Tanzania imposes substantial taxes on tour operations. As a law-abiding tour operator, we are obligated to pay 18% VAT and a 30% corporate tax on all services. We certainly don't aim to overcharge our esteemed travelers, but these costs make it challenging to reduce the price of the day-hike. The only alternative to the Shira plateau hike you took is the more strenuous Marangu trail, which passes through the rainforest and lacks views. We invite everyone to join our full-scale Kilimanjaro expeditions to truly appreciate this magnificent mountain's beauty and grandeur, as single-day hikes can only offer a glimpse into it!
