The Falls were impressive and the first couple of days were great. This was the first time I was in Argentina and the train and walk to Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo) was spectacular. There was a thunderstorm the third day, which limited our birding experience, but Mother Nature doesn't always fit into trip plans.

Although "Birding Is The World Brazil" is known for its group tours of Brazil, I've now used them twice for private tous in Panama and Colombia. They have a good network of local guides and can really customize a trip. I'd definitely use again. This last trip was in a remote part of Panama, and they handled everything from airport pickup to agreements in small hotels (that one can't even find never mind book on the internet), to boat transportation where the Pan Pacific road ends in Darien, Of course, the best part is a saw the Harpy eagle and got to experience part of Panama that is off the beaten path,.

Brazil was wonderful. All the travel arrangements ran smoothly. Our tour guide, Thomaz, was very knowledgeable about birds, especially area hummingbirds, and was also very personable. The variety of lodges was good, and while some were more rustic than others, the accommodations were fine and the food delicious. At those locations that only served breakfast, Thomaz took us to interesting restaurants that he knew and liked, and we enjoyed them too. I was able to photograph many species of hummingbirds that were new to me, including some endemics. Thomaz has a great relationship with all the lodge owners, and at one location we were invited to the owner’s home to visit his personal hummingbird garden. The visit to INMA (National Institute of the Atlantic Forest) museum and grounds was a real treat. Overall, I would highly recommend this trip, and the only areas for improvement would be to have additional multi-flash backgrounds available, and to add an additional strobe to the multi-flash set up. Thomaz was aware of my concerns, and did his best to address them during the tour. I would hope that any future tour will have these improvements.
