This was an experience that I will hold on to forever! Originally, I was booked at a larger, more commercialized group retreat center and they ended up needing to cancel. I was in a pinch to find another option when I found Casa De Luz. Andres was quick to respond and very accomadating prior to the trip. As a solo female traveler, I had some nerves about doing a private retreat but after disecting the website and reviews, I felt comfortable to book and all nerves were dissapated upon arrival.
In hindsight I am so grateful that the first retreat I scheduled was cancelled as it led me to finding a more authentic and private experience. Ayahuasca is not a inherently comfortable experience, and if you are seeking to try this medicine you need to be okay to really lean into it. So many other retreats are draped in a curtain of luxury and how comfortable you will be throughout the experience, I think that it creates a security blanket and looking back, if I would have gone somewhere else I may not have embraced the medicine as much.
Going to Casa De Luz, you will be treated as family. Andy's mother Rosio prepared all all my meals (which were delicious!!) and invites you into their home to eat. She was such a warm and loving presence to have there and I almost felt as if I was with my mom. Andy's female assistant Larissa joined us for the ceremonies and was incredibly intuitive throughout the nights, whenever I was needing something she somehow could sense it before I even knew and would be right there when I opened my eyes. One of the more intense nights I was feeling pretty overwhelmed and she sat with me holding my hand and comforting me. I am so grateful she was there to help. I did 3 ceremonies and all were incredible. Andy is very humble and doesn't try to control your narrative or experience. He has a very subtle way of analyzing the trips, and letting you come to your own relizations, allowing the medicine to speak for itself, which I appreciated. The music he played during session was always perfect and enhanced the medicine greatly.
As there were no pictures of the accomadations, I was a bit anxious to see where I would be spending 5 days, but was comfortable the entire time. The room I stayed in had two beds, a night stand, and a couple of fans. The bathroom and shower room are on the backside of the house and get the job done. Overall, the accomadations were very basic and definetely not fancy, but again, you do this medicine to step outside the comforts you're used to both mentally and physically. Without a big luxurious bed, AC, TV, etc. it allowed me to spend my day in nature, reading, meditating, and journaling while surrendeing to the experience. I would reccomend the experience to anyone interested in this medicine.
To Andy, Rosio, and Larissa -- THANK YOU! I will never forget this experience and all of you made such a positive impact on me. The world is truly so blessed to have you all on in it! I hope to see you again!
