An absolute BLAST. We booked with CMGs at the recommendation of the manager of our local gym. Grant was super easy to work with thorough that stage of the process; enthusiastic, friendly, responsive, and through in addressing our questions. A couple days before our session he checked in, low-pressure suggesting an earlier start time as the forecast was looking sketchy; an easy yes. When the day came our guide, Alden, was waiting for us in the parking area at the base of Cathedral ledge. He was friendly and enthusiastic, and we both felt at-ease right away. The climbing itself was a blast; we were started on something nice and super-easy (as we had requested during booking), and in our 1/2 day session we each had the opportunity to do 5x climbs. Alden clearly knew the crag well, and had picked a start-location with lots of options in our skill/comfort range so we were able to spend very little time hiking around and most of the time was setting up anchors and climbing. This felt especially nice as we only had a 1/2 day! Something else we both really appreciated was Alden's interpersonal skills. He was gentle and considerate when making safety-corrections to our belay technique so we felt like we were learning (which we were!), and not that we were idiots or had done anything wrong. He balanced friendliness and professionalism beautifully, so we were relaxed and had fun, but also felt safe. He clearly knew what he was doing, and while we are both beginners to outdoor climbing I have no doubt he would have crushed it were we more advanced climbers, too!
We are already talking about booking with CMG again next year, this time for a full day session. I enthusiastically recommend them for anyone interested in making the 'dyno' from gym to crag, or otherwise enjoy a supported outdoor climbing experience!
