Aa a solo traveler, I had the most accommodating hosts at El Sabanero Eco lodge and everything felt very safe and enjoyable. I appreciate the owner Kurt with his biggest smiles and hugs, as well as his spectacular Monday evening meditation breathing session. All yoga instructors at El Sabanero are high level. Initially I did not think much of a resident instructor Hector but from my second session to the end he scored the highest top stars in his performance as a teacher. Hector provides so many tips how to improve, all what we need is to follow his guidance and keep practicing. I also appreciate general manager Harold for promptly addressing any questions. Food was good as expected. Chef Donald is a favorite personality, likable by all guests. There were four dogs and two cats that work their jobs to accompany and entertain guests, and they all are adorable. My accommodation was a dream: a stand alone bungalow with a private pathway and complete privacy from any other cabins or people, also with a beautiful jungle view. Mattress was strangely squeaking but so comfortable that upon return home I had to buy a new mattress. The highlight of my trip was a shamanic ceremony, which was administered smoothly and efficiently. The shuttle to the airport and to the beach was great; however, Tamarindo beach sand was polluted with oil or diesel from Pacific Ocean cargo boats. The layout of common areas at El Sabanero is conducive to commingling with many wonderful people, promoting communication with other guests from different states and countries. Also, there are beautiful enjoyable walks in the area.

El Sab is such a wonderful, healing place. Kurt and Harold are incredibly caring and supportive, and the staff are amazing teachers. I stayed for a week and had a hard time leaving. The food was incredible and they catered to my gluten allergy. The people who were staying were so passionate and lovely. El Sab attracts the best people. Highly recommend!!! Thanks everyone 💖

My wife and I stayed at El Sabanero from August 5th to 12th of this year 2023. We had a delightful time. Owners Kurt & Harold are very accommodating and make you feel very welcome. Morning yoga with Hector was wonderful, and I appreciated how he made an effort to accommodate the different skill sets of the guests, so as a beginner I did not feel threatened, and Hector encouraged me to pursue yoga practice further. The other yoga gals for evening yoga were awesome too, every one of them. Ana the massage therapist is a keeper too, and highly recommended. Being able to sign up for excursions/tours, and a complimentary shuttle daily to the beach was really nice too. Donald the cook needs special recognition for still pulling it off with a broken arm – salute. We met some other amazing folks as guests there as well. While the place needs a little fixing up here and there, and has aged a wee bit, it still gives it a more rustic feel and more than makes up for that with it’s charm, views, people, features, community, and caring & safe environment to truly enjoy a reset in beautiful Costa Rica. Pura Vida El Sabanero!
