A Highly Recommended Travel Experience with Fabio Llardi of Italy Bespoke Tours We contacted Fabio Llardi of Italy Bespoke Tours after searching online for a travel advisor who was actually based in Italy and personally familiar with the destinations we wanted to visit. While several agencies appeared in our search results, Fabio was the only advisor we found who was truly based in Italy and lived there. The others were U.S.-based agencies that relied on vendors in Italy for recommendations, information, and bookings. We provided the same itinerary for our 14-day trip to Fabio and two other agencies and asked each of them to respond within a week. We contacted them only three weeks before our arrival in Florence, which was a relatively short timeframe. Our request did not include airfare, meals other than breakfast, or rental cars. We also wanted to visit several smaller towns along the Adriatic Coast, where quality four- and five-star accommodations and private tours can be more difficult to arrange. One agency never responded. The second responded with an itinerary covering only the first nine days of our trip. They told us they were unable to find accommodations or tours in Marina di San Vito or Polignano a Mare, and their proposed cost was more than $20,000 for what they had been able to arrange. When we asked for additional details, they could provide little beyond hotel names and descriptions of tours taken directly from websites. It became clear that they had no personal experience with the accommodations or tours they were recommending and were relying primarily on information from their Italian vendors. Having our travel advisor in the same time zone as us was an enormous advantage, and after this experience, we would not plan an international trip without that level of accessibility again. During our 14 days, we visited Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, Bologna, and numerous towns along the Adriatic Coast and in Puglia. The Adriatic Coast was, without question, the highlight of our trip. Words cannot express my gratitude for Fabio Ilardi of Italy Bespoke Tours. This gratitude runs really deep. I was 17 years old when I went to Italy the first time with my parents and my siblings. At that time we did a grand European tour visiting many countries, but I found Italy to be my favorite. I knew one day I had to return. When I saw the Sistine Chapel as a teenager, my mind was blown. I am now 49 and have 2 boys of my own, ages 17 and 14 and I wanted them to see the Sistine Chapel and the overall beauty of Italy as well. Last year, my husband and I decided to take our sons for their first international trip to Japan. We did a group tour with a total of 23 guests. Though my family and I had a great time in Japan, the one critique was that it felt rushed. We saw a lot and did a lot of excursions, but I wanted more depth to my experiences. I also disliked how I had to “get back on the bus” at a certain time when I wanted to stay at a certain excursion longer. I was contemplating a trip to Italy for June 2026. I did basic online researches on travel companies for trips to Italy. I really did not want to go the group tour route this time around. Fortunately, a family friend posted photos on Facebook of her Italy trip with her family. I contacted her to inquire which company she used and if she was happy with that company. She gave me the info for Fabio and highly recommended him. I contacted Fabio and honestly it has been a wonderful conversation ever since. After sending my first inquiry last year in the spring of 2025, he was so prompt in responding. I then gave him a skeleton template of my “bucket list” of what I was hoping for my dream Italy trip. He informed me he would then contact me in a few business days after he drafted a proposal. I did have a budget in mind and he was so helpful in working with me to get the proposal just right. After 4 rough drafts making some minor changes on hotel choices and excursions, he nailed it. I was so comfortable and confident in placing my deposit to lock in the trip. Our vacation included 2 nights in Rome, 4 nights in Praiano, 2 nights in Florence, and 2 nights in Venice. We had private guides pretty much the whole trip except for Doge’s palace which ended up being a small group tour of 9 people total since I requested it last minute to add that excursion a week before the start of vacation. All the private guides were absolutely amazing and fun. Each were so passionate and eager to share their knowledge of the cities/churches/museums they loved. This is the type of depth I had hoped for. We had several private cars to get us around. All the drivers were always early. We never waited for them. The hotels Fabio curated were just perfect for us. We loved each hotel we stayed at for their charm and location so close to all the big highlights of each city. Closer to the vacation time, Fabio took care of my requested reservations to certain restaurants. Never once did I have to remind him to book something I requested when the reservation slots opened up for those restaurants. I was always impressed with Fabio’s organization and attention to detail. He was also lightning fast with his email correspondences even taking into account there was a 6 hour difference between me on the East Coast of the US and him in Italy. He was detailed in answering all my questions. I know he must have many other clients, but he sure made me feel like a VIP. I know this review is winded, but I had to give a raving review on Fabio. He made my dream Italy trip a reality. It was a tailor made itinerary just perfect for me and my family. The memories and fun we had as a family are priceless.
