In twenty-four years of global adventuring, Kaleidoscope's Monarch Tour was, without a doubt, the best vacation we've ever taken. Our tour Operators, Marisol and Ezio, were warm, attentive, full of happy surprises, and punctual. Even when things were slightly delayed due to circumstances beyond their control, they made everything fun. They let us know what was happening (and that things were being handled.) While published when we booked, our itinerary was an excellent daily surprise. The transportation to each destination was always on time and in good, clean condition. Mexico City traffic can be challenging, but we had so much fun talking, singing, and getting to know each other we hardly noticed. Our hotels were...well, spectacular. We went from "City Chic" to a traditional Mexican Hacienda where we ate together at a beautiful hand-made hundreds of years-old table, then a palatial home with every amenity of a Hollywood Manse (including butlers and maids) featured in Architectural Digest, and then back to Ultra Chic. Everywhere we stayed, we were treated royally. It helps that the owners have built sterling reputations within this area/space. The tours were well-planned, and our guides clearly knew their areas. The trip to experience the Monarchs was incredible. We rode well-cared-for horses from the valley to the hiking point; Therein began the adventure. It is a VERY steep hike. Not every turn or path was steep, but you'll want to go slow if you are susceptible to altitudes (thin air). Our guides led a dozen of us but were always popping up to check on those of us who walked a little slower. Getting to our Monarch Migration magic point was breathtaking. Imagine millions of these amazing, highly evolved butterflies flying around you and cascading through the forest! It is a marvel and miracle, indeed a sight to behold. You can't help but feel in the presence of a higher being; You won't regret making the trek. All in all, our trip was unforgettable and the itinerary stellar. The restaurants and hotel locations were 5-star. The shopping can be never ending. If you love to shop, you'll find it hard to tear yourself away. Best of all, we always felt safe. I am so glad we took this tour with Kaleidoscope Travels.
