First, I want to say how much I love the concept of Momcation and what Lisa has created. You can truly feel the passion, love, and intention behind the community she has built. It’s beautiful to see women coming together in this way. The food was very good, and I enjoyed the activities like surfing, yoga, and sharing meals together as a group. The nannies were wonderful with the kids — very loving and caring.
There are a few areas where I see room for improvement. Clearer communication and a more structured schedule would make a big difference. There were several last-minute changes, which led to a lot of discussions and additional planning within the group. Since cars are shared with women who have just met, it requires extra coordination, and six days can feel short to fully align in that setting.
The house was unfortunately not always fully kid-friendly. The children couldn’t play freely everywhere, and there were some safety concerns. A safer environment where kids can move around more independently would help moms relax more instead of constantly having to watch and redirect them. After Momcation, we stayed at a place where my son could move freely, and it made a noticeable difference in his happiness and my ability to relax.
It would also be wonderful to spend more time outdoors — having meals outside and being more connected to nature really shifts the overall mood and energy.
Of course, group dynamics can’t be fully planned, but when there is frequent complaining within the group, it can affect the overall atmosphere. Perhaps an arrival ceremony or opening circle to align expectations and energy could help create more clarity and cohesion from the start.
Unfortunately, some activities I was really looking forward to, like sailing and the cacao ceremony, had to be canceled. That naturally changes the experience from what was initially hoped for.
For future retreats, offering babysitting directly at the accommodation (without needing to coordinate shared car rides) would make things much smoother, especially considering different children’s schedules. A seaside location where you can walk to activities instead of needing a car most of the time would also make the experience feel more relaxed and fluid.
Overall, it was a good community experience, though not as relaxing as I had hoped due to the amount of last-minute planning and logistics. I truly appreciate the team’s effort — the breakfasts and dinners were delicious, and the childcare team was lovely. Perhaps having a few more experienced “mama nannies,” especially for babies and younger children, would add even more ease.
I would love to see this concept and community continue to grow. I could absolutely imagine joining again in the future or even contributing ideas and being more involved.
