Our Sierra Gorda trip was a great adventure. We saw truly spectacular sights, traveled in comfort, and had good meals and accommodations. But what made it truly special were our guide, Alejandro, and our driver, Gama. We all got to know one another and had a great shared experience. And Alejandro’s knowledge of the area is second to none.

This was the trip of a lifetime. To experience the monarchs in their wintering habitats was life altering. The trip was amazing. Everything was impeccably curated. Our guides were amazing and so kind and patient. This experience will be with me always. I highly recommend Travelian tours and A Couple Without Borders..

We really enjoyed this trip…our guides were top notch, the accommodations really nice. Loved being in Antigua for Semana Santa, all the birding was great. So colorful and the people so kind. We loved everything except so sad at the garbage strewn everywhere roadside with the stray dogs …wanted to take all the dogs home! Unfortunately true in many countries, not specifically Guatemala….but otherwise it was just delightful…especially enjoyed the Lake Atitlan area….would go again with Rodrigo and Maynor in a heartbeat!

Each day contained wonders. Rodrigo was always working in the background, making sure everything went smoothly for all of us and that we travelers were safe, happy, and in the right place at the right time to see and experience the remarkable events of Holy Week in Antigua and the colorful and amazing birds of Guatemala. Our local guide, Maynor, added multiple dimensions to all of our experiences with his knowledge of the birds and their habits, history, religion, and Mayan culture and languages. All the restaurants and hotels were carefully chosen for their wonderful service, food, beauty, and locations.
