About this trip

Join us for an eco-luxury jungle retreat overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Costa Rica. Imagine miles of pristine beaches, secret waterfalls, a relaxed way of being, and an opportunity to rest into your true nature.

The retreat will be held at Imiloa—a boutique retreat center on 30 acres of secondary jungle in the Saverge Mountains that invokes transformation, wellness, and harmony.

Each day will begin with an hour-long class devoted to meditation and mindfulness techniques. After breakfast, the daily three-hour Ayurveda and yoga classes are intended to go beyond the general group classes you may experience back home. Throughout the week, we’ll build progressively on Ayurvedic and yogic wisdom as well as anatomical, alignment, and energetic themes.

Each afternoon there is ample free time so that, if you wish, you can hike to secret waterfalls, bird watch, seek out the resident sloths, head to the beach, or explore any of the other adventures Costa Rica has to offer. As remote as Imiloa feels, it is only minutes away from pristine beaches, surfing, zip-lining, nature hikes, shopping, and restaurants.

You can also spend free time at Imiloa, which has a saltwater pool with a spectacular view of the coast, hiking trails to waterfalls, and plenty of sweet spots to relax. There is also a luxury spa where self-care services may be purchased separately.

In short, this is a retreat for spiritual seekers who want to experience pura vida—a way of life that is laid back, carefree, and optimistic—in both a tropical mountain and pristine beach environment.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

This retreat will allow you to unplug from your stresses and responsibilities, from electronics and newsfeeds, and remember what is really important to you. OTHER THINGS TO EXPECT

Days in Costa Rica are warm/hot and evenings are a little cooler, giving you reprieve from the heat. The retreat happens during the dry season, so rain will be sparse. Since we’ll be staying at a retreat center with indoor/outdoor elements, expect to be somewhat exposed to nature (including winds, cute geckos, and jungle bugs), as well as the sounds of monkeys and tropical birds when the jungle wakes up.

COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES

Imiloa, our retreat center, has rigorous health and safety protocols in place. Participants shall be solely responsible for complying with all Covid-19 entry requirements of the destination country and re-entry requirements back to one’s country of origin.

PLEASE NOTE

Costs associated with passports (required), airfare, flight changes, airline baggage fees for any and all baggage, medical and travel insurance, vaccinations, gratuities and taxes for personal services, spa services, and tours/excursions must be met by the participant.

Cancel for any reason insurance is required. Cancel for any reason travel insurance ensures you are covered should any unexpected event arise. I’m an Ayurvedic health counselor, yoga and meditation teacher, and neurovascular therapist living in Madison, Wisconsin. I have been in private practice and teaching since 2000. My classes and retreats integrate Ayurvedic wisdom, meditation and a mindful approach to asana that brings attention to anatomy, optimal alignment, strength, breath, and inner awareness. This practice cultivates abounding health in body and mind while inspiring you to live a more grounded and compassionate life. I offer a variety of trainings, workshops, and retreats, both locally and abroad. I have a deep love for travel, local food, and spending time with my pitbull Lucy. I look forward to working together. Gratefully, Andrea P.S. Head over to http://andrearussell.com/about/ to get my full story!

Accomodations were great, with amazing food and service. Wonderful yoga and meditation practices in a beautiful setting.

Costa Rica lovely! Yoga in the jungle, labyrinth, food and company were excellent! The Imiloa campus was beautiful but more physically challenging than expected and as compared to Ahki. Lighting --- a better balance between aesthetics and functionality needed and can be achieved while maintaining eco-system of jungle - including the walking paths, "Heart" - dining room.. Often felt unsafe with use of headlamp at night.

The Costa Rico Retreat with Andrea was amazing! The Imiloa Institute was an incredibly beautiful site to host the retreat. The Imiloa staff was warm and welcoming, working above and beyond expectations. The staff was on it if assistance was needed to remove a spider or gecko, deliver towels, etc. It was obvious the staff loved their jobs and worked together flawlessly as a team. I was treated with utmost care in regard to food intolerances. Andrea and Rebecca did an excellent job leading and supporting yoga practices, meditations, and Ayurvedic dharma talks. At the onset, Andrea created a positive, nurturing, and inclusive environment. Sound healing, walking the Labyrinth, and participating in the Mandela ceremony at the beach were truly healing, awakening, and enlightening experiences. I would highly recommend retreating with Andrea. I continue to carry the messages Andera shared during the retreat and am living with more intention and in the present moment. Pura Vida, simple life, pure life, is something I now carry in my heart.

I don't know if I can put into words what this retreat meant to me. Although I booked the retreat many months before it took place, it came at the exact right time. I was burned out and extremely tired from work and life. Itha108 was extremely beautiful. The staff, scenery, meals, rooms and everything was perfect. Andrea and Liz did an extraordinary job with the daily meditation, yoga practices and keeping us informed on everything. Andrea offered many suggestions for alignments and options I can take during my practice to help challenges with my knees. I learned so much about food, digestion and much more. I'm excited to dig into learning more about ayurvedic practices and hopefully apply them to my lifestyle to help combat inflammation and pain in my body. I highly recommend this retreat and other retreats with Andrea. Not only is she an amazing yoga instructor and well versed in ayurvedic practices, she is the most amazing person. Liz was the perfect assistant and compliment to Andrea. I can't say enough about what this retreat meant to me. I will carry the memories of this retreat with me forever.

My time at the Christine Center for Andrea's retreat was just wonderful. I came away not just feeling refreshed and centered, but with actual tools to move forward with...and so much to think about! Andrea embodies all of the things she talks about, you can see it...feel it. Her knowledge of Ayurveda, the body, nature, and how it all ties into each other, is incredible. Anyone who has the opportunity to experience learning from Andrea should make it a priority to do so!
