My husband &amp; I went on the Mystery Trip last week. It was so much fun! Kim did an excellent job planning the trip to Des Moines, IA. We got on the bus at 8:30AM &amp; saw many places of interest. We enjoyed the food at the restaurants she chose. Kim has such a fun personality &amp; entertained us as we traveled on the bus. Everything went smoothly because she coordinated everything so well. Looking forward to our next trip with her!

We just completed our 5th Mystery Trip with Kim.  She does a wonderful job of making these trips interesting and fun.  As long as the Vikings have existed, I have been an avid fan.  My spouse is not one bit interested in football.  But she made a tour of The Packer's Lambeau field very interesting and enjoyable!  And the rest of the trip was even better. 5th Annual Applewood Champlin Mystery Tour

We had a great time, all of the attractions were very interesting, and learned a lot. The hotel accommodations were great with high toilets and nice lighting.  The most interesting thing for my roommate and me was that we had a Casper the friendly ghost in our room.  He would keep opening the dresser drawers.  Good thing we were not afraid of Ghosts.  Looking forward to the next Springs tour.

Our tour begins at the train station in St. Cloud,Thursday morning just after midnight., where we meet ourtraveling family for our exciting tour to the CanadianRockies. Shortly after midnight we climb aboard andenjoy all the amenities of Amtrak’s comfortable recliningseats, a spacious lounge car to enjoy socializing andcocktails, dining car, not to mention the panoramic viewsin relaxing comfort. As we travel west, through NorthDakota and into Montana, we pass by horse and cattleranches and Indian reservations heading deep into theRocky Mountains. Approximate travel time is 22 hours.Following our 10:00 p.m. arrival into Whitefish, Montanawe check into the Super 8 in Kalispell, Montana.

Day 1, Thur, Sep. 3rd

Today we board our deluxe motorcoach and meet our
local driver to see how geological processes have
formed and sculptured more than 50 glaciers and
mountains that tower 9,000 feet above 200 lakes which
comprise this terrain. Entering Glacier National Park will
leave you breathless with its Alpine beauty. Then by
special mini bus, also known as the historic Red
Jammers, we travel the spectacular “Going to the Sun
Highway”, acclaimed as one of the most outstanding
scenic roadways in the world. The 52 mile route
traverses through Logan’s Pass, across the continental
divide, and affords magnificent views of many glaciers.
By mid-afternoon, we arrive in Waterton Lakes National
Park. After a day of beautiful scenery, we check into the Bayshore
Inn and our evening is free to explore the charming and
quaint Waterton Village.

Day 2, Fri, Sep. 4th

Our day begins by traveling the majestic beauty ofBANFF NATIONAL PARK, Canada’s oldest park. We have a comfort stop at the historic Bar U Ranch, where we can visit their unique gift shop and grab a snack. We continue to Banff, where we enjoy an included lunch at the famous FAIRMONTBANFF SPRINGS HOTEL, truly a landmark, known as Canada's "Castle in the Rockies!" After lunch, we have time for pictures and to explore the Chateau before we have a very short drive to the Banff Gondola. This is the NUMBER ONE rated attraction in Banff! We soar the 2,292 feet in 8 minutes to the summit of Sulfur Mountain and enjoy breathtaking views. Following the gondola, we check into our hotel for a 2-night stay, at the newly renovated High Country Inn, where our luggage is waiting for us already in our room! Our evening is free to enjoy the downtown area of Banff!

Day 3, Sat, Sep. 5th 

Today we travel North America’s most scenic drive, the Columbia Icefield Parkway. Majestic mountains along with its variety of lakes make up the characteristics ofJasper National Park that contains 4,200 square miles of breathtaking beauty. Next we board a special snow coach that takes us on an amazing journey to the top ofthe Athabasca Glacier. Here we see how powerful forces of ancient water and ice continues to shape the Rocky Mountains. &nbsp;We make a stop at the beautiful and breathtaking Lake Louise, where we enjoy time to explore and take photos of this vivid turquoise lake. &nbsp;&nbsp;Your evening is free to enjoy dinner and shopping in Banff (Sleep Well).

Day 4, Sun., Sep. 6th

This morning we check out of our hotel and travel west through British Columbia to the Bavarian Village of Radium Hot Springs, where we make a comfort stop at a local bakery/convenient store and the Radium Vistor Center. Our scenic drive brings us to Cranbrook, British&nbsp;Columbia, where we tour the History Centre, formerly known as the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel.&nbsp; This historic train station has a collection of vintage rail cars and exhibits of Canadian trains and the history of the railroad in Canada.&nbsp; What a fitting attraction to visit before we board our Amtrak back home in a day!&nbsp; We also enjoy an included box lunch at the train station.&nbsp;This afternoon, we cross the border back into Montana, arriving back at the Super 8 in Kalispell, Montana where our evening is free to enjoy dinner on our own, pack and get ready for our train ride back home.&nbsp;

Day 5, Mon, Sep. 7th

Today we have an early checkout, as the train departs from the Whitefish Amtrak Station at 7:30 a.m. We spend a relaxing day on the train, enjoying the scenery and visiting, while enjoying all the amenities of Amtrak.

Day 6, Tue, Sep. 8th 

We enjoy quiet time on the train at night until our early morning arrival to the St. Cloud Amtrak Station at 6:32 a.m. where we collect our belongings and luggage and say goodbye to our fellow travelers.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Tour members will be expected to pay for the accommodations that they receive. If you change the type of accommodations due to cancellation of roommate(s) (i.e. Single, Double, Triple, Quad), you will be required to pay the accommodations cost that applies.

The tour will begin in Little Falls, however, pick up points en route may be arranged through LaVerne’s Travel, Inc.
 
TOUR DOCUMENTS
Tour members will receive their tour documents about 10 days before departure. The documents will include boarding instructions, departure point, pre-tour information, a luggage tag, and a name tag. Passport and Vaccination Card is Required to cross the border and for some attractions on the tour. “Non Vaccinated travelers will be required to show a negative Covid test 72 hours before departure.”

INSURANCE
Although every effort is made to handle passengers’ luggage as carefully as possible, LaVerne’s Travel, Inc., cannot assume liability for loss or damage to luggage due to breakage, fire, water, theft, pilferage, etc. Purchase of additional luggage insurance is available through LaVerne’s Travel, Inc. Accident and trip cancellation insurance is also available.
 
CANCELLATIONS
A full refund of all monies paid by the tour participant will be made in the event you find it necessary to cancel the tour, provided that you cancel at least 30 days before departure. Cancellations after that date will be assessed a $200.00 charge, which can be applied towards any future tour with LaVerne’s Travel, Inc.
 
CLOTHING AND LUGGAGE
Dress is casual...comfortable walking shoes are a must. Sunglasses, rain wear, camera and a sweater or light jacket will make your trip more comfortable. One large suitcase plus one small
carry-on is allowed per passenger. Additional luggage will be charged a handling fee of $50.00 per bag.
