From Jack: I greatly appreciated the knowledge, kindness, and support from Jeremy, Nancy, Parker, and Sarah. Each teacher shared their expertise in a fun and no pressure or judgmental way. One could not help but to participate and learn something new and useful. The information was presented in fun and progressive way, going from simple techniques and building to the more complex. The attendees had a broad spectrum of experience in music and with various instruments. The workshops provided useful information and experience to match each level during the time allowed. The one on one session with Jeremy was worth the entire trip. We attended the summer school to experience playing the handpans and digeridoo. The experience with each was fantastic and confidence building. We will continue to build on our experiences at home in the near future with the acquisition of a handpan and a gong. Nancy and Sarah were generous with their time, showing us the various types available and recommending the drift as a good starting point. I have ordered an ocean drum to try out. Having to perform a sound journey was initially worrisome. I am rather quiet and reserved. Even though I have presented research papers to a wide number of professional attendees, doing this was a bit out of my comfort zone. I truly appreciate the encouragement that I received. Having the professional journey presentation the evening of arrival as a model, combined with some of the workshops, gave me some confidence that I would survive without embarrassing my Nancy. We worked out the sequence of instruments about thirty minutes prior to our turn, and just let it flow and evolve as to what felt good. The critiques offered after everyone’s performance were supportive and helpful as well as kind. I can now present a sound journey with confidence and can add some variety and support to my Nancy’s music as well as just have fun. The accommodations and location were beautiful and relaxing. Experiencing the land and nature was a bonus. The meals were excellent and prepared with love and expertise. The mix of people and the program was fantastic and joyful. We made new friends and learned a great deal. Thank you for making this available. I also enjoyed the company of all the attendees, including our cooks and Alice and Niles! Even enjoyed watching those beautiful chickens! The location was wonderful and amazingly quiet for someone who never gets away from traffic noise in southern Indiana. The food was absolutely wonderful! Loved watching the birds at the feeders and looking at the stream. Best of all, getting to play with instruments I would otherwise never have been able to try! I can't say enough about my wonderful experience with Nancy and Jeremy. To begin with, they are the warmest, kindest and most down-to-earth humble people I have ever met. They are so REAL and their cat Miles is just as amazing :) Their home and property is warm and inviting and the sounds of roosters in the background while we learned made things extra special (they did NOT like the gongs LOL). The food was absolutely delicious! Ellen (their wonderful friend/chef) prepared these to-die-for frittatas each morning with eggs from their 24 hens. It doesn't get any fresher than that! The soups and salads at dinner were also delicious and nourishing. Now, let me talk about what I came to Settle Into Stillness. What I learned from these two special humans will stay with me forever. I feel like I have become one with my instruments. I brought two bowls that I've had for a year and wasn't connecting with. They showed me a simple solution and now the bowls sound amazing - maybe it's also because they spent time in Michigan. I am a changed person because of my time in this state. I live in CT and the people and experiences in Michigan are ones that I will keep close to my heart for the rest of my life. The other students were also amazing and we all vowed to keep in touch (though they all live in MI so it's a bit far.) I would recommend this experience with my whole heart and I truly hope that I can find my way back to Settle Into Stillness some day in the future. One of the most beautiful retreats my partner and I have attended. Breathtaking and serene nature, beautifully constructed cabin, all necessary amenities. A weekend full of knowledgeable instructors who shared a variety of musical practices. Everyone was very open and communicative, creating a transformative space for each of us to learn and grow, and express ourselves in new and expansive ways. I cannot recommend Settle Into Stillness enough, as both a team of wonderful humans, talented musicians and effective instructors, teachers and space holders. Thank you so much for all that you do!

This was an amazing training experience. Jeremy and Nancy are amazingly knowledgeable. They are also gracious hosts. The friendships made will last.

Our trip to Kerala was a wonderful journey into the history, culture and nature of the State! Our guide Remya chose interesting food experiences, took every challenge with grace and made things happen.
