Take A Menopause & Breathe

Stronger, Well & More Like You

A menopause day retreat focused on health, movement and feeling good in your body
One day for yourself. Practical ideas for everyday life.Perhaps you want to feel stronger, but you’re not sure where to start. Perhaps your energy feels unpredictable, your confidence has taken a knock, or the things you used to do no longer feel quite right. And with work, family and everything else on your list, looking after yourself keeps slipping to the bottom. This day is an invitation to pause, understand your changing needs and explore ways to care for your body that feel achievable.Gorgeous yoga led by Nikkie with menopause and the body in mind, outdoors if possible.Join Lucy and other women navigating perimenopause and menopause for a welcoming day of practical learning, approachable movement, nourishing food and honest conversation. A chance to ask questions, try something, laugh together and think about what would work for you.You don’t need a whole weekend away to make room for yourself. Start with a day.
Looking after the body you have now
How would it feel to approach your health and fitness with a little more understanding and confidence? We’ll explore what looking after yourself can mean during menopause, from making movement part of a busy week to finding a balance between activity and rest. There will be dedicated time to learn, opportunities to ask questions and space to reflect. We’ll focus on realistic habits you can take home, rather than adding another overwhelming list of things you “should” be doing.Whether you’re returning to movement, looking for a fresh starting point or already active and curious about your next steps, you are welcome.
What we’ll explore
Understanding your changing needs Start with a clear conversation about menopause and the questions it raises about your body, wellbeing and daily life.Making movement feel manageable Explore ways to build activity into your week, with room for different starting points, preferences and energy levels. Simple yoga exercises that you can take with you from strength and flexibility.Strength, confidence and where to begin Consider what you would like to feel more capable of doing, the questions you have about strength and fitness, and your next practical step.Everyday nourishment and rest Reflect on the routines that help you look after yourself, including eating regularly, making space for rest and asking for support.Your own achievable plan Choose a few small actions that fit your life. Something you can begin with, rather than a complete reinvention.
A day with room to breathe
Alongside the learning and movement, there will be time to enjoy your food, talk with other women and simply pause. Our Devon retreat feedback highlighted how much guests valued belonging, practical ideas to use at home, and the combination of learning, relaxation and fun. This day brings those priorities together with a focused health and fitness theme. You can come with a friend or come on your own. You can join the conversation or take time to listen. Bring your swimming costume for the hot tub and plunge pool if you fancy it.You don’t have to arrive feeling confident. You just have to arrive as you are.
From our Devon menopause retreat
“Uplifting, grounding, nurturing”“it was so powerful to feel a safe sense of belonging with strangers.”“It's okay to arrive exactly where you are now, and be open to what may be possible!”Susan [confirmed initial], guest at our Devon residential menopause retreat.
Is this day for you?
This retreat may be a good fit if you:

Want to give your health and wellbeing some attention.

Feel unsure where to begin with movement or fitness.

Would appreciate practical learning and supportive company.

Want ideas that fit around work, family and real life.

Need time for yourself but cannot manage an overnight stay.

If you have an injury, health condition, access requirement or concern about taking part, contact Lucy before booking so we can discuss the planned activities and your needs.
Meet Lucy
“I know how unsettling it can feel when your body and confidence change, while life still expects you to carry on as usual.I created Take A Menopause & Breathe to give women space to understand, ask questions and think about themselves again.
A one-day menopause retreat focused on anxiety, confidence and low mood
Step away from the demands of everyday life and give yourself some space to breathe.Perhaps you’re worrying about things you once took in your stride. Your confidence feels less steady. You find yourself replaying conversations, doubting decisions or holding back when you used to speak up.Or perhaps you simply feel flat. You’re keeping everything going, but wondering where your enthusiasm, enjoyment or sense of yourself has gone.It can be difficult to explain, especially when everyone else sees someone who is coping. You deserve support before you reach the point of having nothing left to give.Join Lucy for a welcoming day of practical learning, reflection, relaxation and connection with other women navigating perimenopause and menopause. Time to explore what you need, discover manageable ways to support yourself and make room for moments of enjoyment. Bring your swimming costume if you’d like to use the hot tub and plunge pool.
When did you last ask yourself, “How am I?”
With work, family and everyone else’s needs competing for your attention, that question can get lost. This retreat gives you time to listen to your answer. We’ll explore anxiety, confidence and low mood in the context of menopause and midlife, while recognising that your experiences are individual. There will be space to ask questions, share if you wish and consider what kind of support could help you.You can arrive feeling uncertain, tired or a little nervous. You don’t need to put on a brave face.
What we’ll explore together

Creating a little more calm
Notice what leaves you feeling overwhelmed and explore simple grounding and relaxation practices. Consider how asking for help, delegating and protecting time for yourself could ease some of the pressure.
Finding your confidence again
Explore the situations where self-doubt creeps in, recognise strengths you may have stopped noticing and choose a small step towards speaking up, making a decision or doing something that matters to you.
Making room for enjoyment
Reflect on what you miss, what you enjoy and what you would like more of. We’ll explore gentle ways to reconnect with the people, interests and everyday moments that matter to you, without pressure to feel positive.
Boundaries without the guilt
Look at where your energy goes and what you might need to change. Practise putting your needs into words and consider what a realistic boundary could look like at home or at work.
Your next small steps
Bring the day together with a personal plan: a few manageable actions, the support you might ask for and something you would like to make room for.
Learning, connection and time to breathe
There will be dedicated time for learning and questions, alongside guided reflection, relaxation and unhurried conversation. Our Devon retreat guests valued the sense of belonging, practical ideas to take home, and the balance of learning, relaxation and fun. Those priorities are at the heart of this day. There is room for laughter as well as quieter moments. You are welcome to come on your own or with a friend, and you can choose how much you share.Sometimes, being able to say “I’ve been feeling that too” is a meaningful place to begin.
Words from our Devon retreat
“Uplifting, grounding, nurturing”“it was so powerful to feel a safe sense of belonging with strangers.”“It's okay to arrive exactly where you are now, and be open to what may be possible!”Susan [confirmed initial], guest at our Devon residential menopause retreat.
Is this retreat for you?
This day may be a good fit if you:

Feel more anxious, overwhelmed or unsure of yourself.

Miss your confidence, enthusiasm or enjoyment.

Spend a lot of time caring for others and little time considering your own needs.

Would welcome practical ideas and understanding company.

Want time for yourself without an overnight stay.

You don’t need to know exactly where you are in your menopause journey before asking whether the day is right for you. This is a supportive educational and coaching retreat. A Little Calmer. A Little More Confident. More Like You.

Day retreat

What if a few days away could change much more than a few days?
Imagine waking up without immediately thinking about what everybody else needs from you.Imagine having nowhere to rush to. No work demands. No endless list. No decisions to make for everyone else.Just space.Space to breathe. To sleep. To move your body. To eat gorgeous food. To laugh. To think. And, perhaps for the first time in quite a while, to hear yourself again.Welcome to the Devon Menopause Retreat.A small, intimate retreat in the beautiful Devon countryside for women who are ready to stop simply getting through this stage of life and start thinking about how they actually want to live it.Because menopause can change more than your hormones. It can change your confidence. Your energy. Your body. Your relationships. Your work. Even your sense of who you are.And somewhere amongst looking after your career, your family, your home and everyone who relies on you, you can quietly disappear from your own priority list. This retreat is your opportunity to put yourself back on it.
This isn't about "fixing" you
You don't need fixing. And this isn't a bootcamp, a detox or three days of being told all the things you should be doing. It's a chance to step away from everyday life and understand what's happening to you — physically and emotionally — while discovering small, realistic changes that can make life feel significantly better.Small hinges swing big doors.Over our time together, we'll explore the things that can genuinely support you through menopause and beyond. We'll talk about food, movement, hydration and the everyday choices that support your body. There'll be menopause-informed yoga, mindfulness and practical techniques to help calm an overloaded mind. We'll use coaching, conversation and journalling to explore what's happening beneath the surface too — confidence, boundaries, priorities and the things you may have been putting off thinking about. You'll have one-to-one coaching as well as supportive group sessions. And there'll be plenty of time when absolutely nothing is expected of you.Walk.Read.Sit outside.Have a long conversation.Get into the hot tub.Or simply be still. This is a retreat, after all.
But you'll come home with more than lovely memories
This is where the retreat becomes different.I don't want you to leave Devon feeling wonderful on Sunday and find yourself back in exactly the same patterns by Wednesday.During our time together, you'll be introduced to The Menopause Plan — a practical framework to help you understand what you need and decide what you want to change. We'll look honestly at where you are now. What's working. What's draining you. What you've perhaps tolerated for too long. And what you want the next chapter of your life to look like. Not somebody else's version of it.Yours.You'll leave with practical techniques you can use at home, a recipe booklet full of ideas to take with you, a follow-up call already booked and, most importantly, a plan.Because feeling better isn't about changing everything overnight. It's about knowing which small changes matter to you — and having the confidence to make them.
You'll be looked after, too
For these few days, you don't have to be the person making everything happen. We'll look after you. You'll be nurtured, supported and very well fed, with all meals included and thoughtfully created with menopause and midlife wellbeing in mind. There'll be beautiful countryside, nourishing food, movement, conversation, laughter, quiet moments and space to breathe. And you'll share it with a small group of women who understand that this stage of life can be challenging — but also that it can be the beginning of something rather brilliant.
Why retreat with me?
I'm a qualified, certified Menopause Coach and an affiliate of the British Menopause Society. So yes, this will be a beautiful few days away. But it isn't just a beautiful few days away.Everything we do has a purpose: helping you understand yourself better, feel more confident about the choices available to you and give you practical tools you can continue using when you go home.My role isn't to tell you how your life should look. It's to give you the knowledge, support and space to work out what you want it to look like.
And why now?
Because there will always be a reason to put yourself off.Work is busy.Someone needs you. There's something else the money could be spent on.Maybe you'll do something for yourself when life calms down. But what if this isn't the part of your life you simply have to get through? What if it's the point where you get to choose what comes next? You are one of the most important resources in your life — and often in the lives of everyone around you.You deserve some of that care, attention and energy too.Come to Devon.Take a few days away from everything that usually comes first.Rest. Learn. Laugh. Think. And go home feeling clearer, steadier and more confident about what comes next. Not a new you.You — with a little more space, a little more knowledge, and a much clearer idea of what you want."I always leave feeling clearer, more empowered and more confident in myself. Lucy has an incredible gift for helping you recognise strengths you either hadn't seen in yourself or hadn't fully believed in."— Carly

This retreat is for you if…
On paper, life might look pretty good. You've built a career. You've looked after people. You've coped with difficult things. You're capable, independent and usually the person who gets on with it.But lately, you might not feel quite like you.Maybe your confidence has taken a knock.Your energy isn't what it was. Your brain feels too full. You're more anxious, tired or overwhelmed than you'd like to admit.Perhaps you've spent so long taking care of everyone and everything else that you're not entirely sure what you need anymore. And there's a little voice somewhere inside you saying:There has to be more to the next part of my life than just carrying on like this.If that sounds familiar, this retreat was created with you in mind. It's for you if you want to…

Feel like yourself again — clearer, calmer, more confident and more in control.

Understand what's happening in your body and discover practical ways to support yourself through menopause and midlife.

Get your energy back and learn small, realistic changes that work in an actual busy life.

Step away from being the responsible one for a few days and allow somebody else to look after you.

Have proper time to think about what you want — not what your work, partner, children, family or everyone else needs from you.

Reconnect with your body with movement, nourishing food, rest and time outdoors rather than punishing it for changing.

Meet other women who get it, without having to explain yourself or pretend everything is fine.

Laugh and enjoy yourself. Because this isn't three days of serious self-improvement. There will be good food, conversation, countryside, a hot tub and plenty of fun too.

Come home with something tangible — not just feeling refreshed, but knowing what you want to do differently and where to begin.

You don't have to be at breaking point to need a retreat.
In fact, I'd rather you weren't.You don't need to wait until you're completely exhausted, you've lost all your confidence or life has become unmanageable before deciding that you deserve some attention too.Sometimes you simply need to get out of your normal environment for long enough to hear yourself think.Three days where you don't have to hold everything together.Three days to rest.Three days to understand yourself a little better.Three days to remember what you enjoy. And three days to start asking a question we don't ask ourselves nearly enough:What do I want now?If you've read this far and something inside you is thinking God, I need this…Maybe you do.

Is it for me?

What your days in Devon will actually feel like
This isn't the kind of retreat where you'll be rushing from one activity to the next with a timetable in your hand. There'll be structure, of course. But there'll also be space.Because when was the last time you had enough of that?
Mornings that don't start with an alarm and an inbox
You'll wake up in the Devon countryside with nowhere you need to rush to.No commute. No school run. No emails demanding an immediate answer. We'll start the day gently — perhaps with yoga or some time outside — before sitting down to a delicious breakfast that somebody else has prepared. And you won't have to clear it away.Already sounding good? We'll use the mornings for some of our coaching and menopause sessions, when you're rested and have the headspace to really think. Not lectures.Conversations.Practical, useful information about your body, your wellbeing and the things that can help you feel better — alongside the bigger conversations about confidence, priorities, boundaries and what you want from this stage of your life. There'll be notebooks, cups of tea and probably quite a lot of laughter too.
Afternoons with room to breathe
After lunch, things slow down.We might walk through the countryside, spend time reflecting or come together for a group session. You'll also have time that is completely yours. And you don't have to use it productively.Read your book.Have a nap.Sit outside with a cup of tea.Talk to another woman who's somehow gone from stranger to someone you've told half your life story to.Get into the hot tub.Stare at the view.Do absolutely nothing.Nobody is going to ask what you've achieved. That's rather the point.
Evenings around the table
There's something rather special about a group of women sitting around a table together when nobody has to cook, organise the evening or rush off somewhere afterwards. We'll eat beautiful, nourishing food. We'll talk. We'll laugh. We'll share as much or as little as we want to.And as the retreat unfolds, something lovely tends to happen. You start to exhale. The shoulders drop. The mind quietens. The conversations get deeper. The things that felt enormously complicated at home can start to look a little clearer when you've had enough distance from them. And you remember that looking after yourself can actually feel good. Not selfish. Not indulgent. Not another thing you ought to be doing better.Just good.
And somewhere amongst all of that…
We'll start thinking about what happens when you go home.Because I don't want you to leave with a notebook full of lovely intentions that disappears into a drawer on Monday morning. You'll use The Menopause Plan to identify the changes that could make the biggest difference to your life. Not twenty new habits. Not an impossible morning routine. Not a completely reinvented version of yourself.A few things that matter. You might realise you need to protect your sleep.Move differently.Eat differently.Ask for help.Put a boundary somewhere there hasn't been one before.Stop saying yes automatically.Make space for something you've missed.Or finally give yourself permission to want something different.Your plan will be personal to you.And because you'll have a follow-up call after the retreat, you won't be left to figure out how to make it all work once real life starts again.
You'll arrive as a guest. You'll leave feeling like you've had a proper reset.
Hopefully you'll leave rested.Definitely well fed.Probably with a few new friends. But more importantly, I want you to leave feeling more like yourself.Clearer about what your body needs.More confident about the choices available to you.More connected to what you want. And with a plan that feels exciting and achievable rather than overwhelming. You may even find yourself wondering why on earth you waited so long to give yourself a few days like these. This isn't about escaping your life. It's about stepping out of it for long enough to decide how you want to step back in.

Everything is taken care of
Once you arrive, I want you to be able to switch off.No wondering where you're going to eat.No organising. No trying to fit everything in.No looking after everybody else. For these few days, we're looking after you.Your Devon Retreat includes:
🌿 Your stay in the beautiful Devon countryside
A few precious days away from normal life, surrounded by nature and with the space to properly slow down. This isn't a huge, anonymous retreat. It's intentionally small, so you'll be known, supported and have the opportunity to form genuine connections with the women you're sharing it with.
🍽️ All your meals
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included, along with drinks and snacks throughout your stay. The food will be delicious, nourishing and created with menopause and midlife wellbeing in mind. And one of the loveliest things? You just get to sit down and eat it.No shopping. No planning. No cooking. No clearing up afterwards.
🧘 Menopause-informed yoga and movement
Gentle, supportive sessions designed to help you reconnect with your body rather than push it harder. You don't need to be bendy. You don't need to be "good at yoga".And nobody is checking whether you can touch your toes.
💬 Group coaching
These are the conversations we rarely give ourselves enough time to have. We'll explore confidence, wellbeing, boundaries, priorities, identity and what you want from the next chapter of your life. You'll have the benefit of my coaching, but also something incredibly powerful: hearing other women say things you've been quietly thinking yourself.
🧠 Practical menopause support
We'll look at the everyday things that can make a real difference to how you feel — including food, movement, hydration, sleep, stress and managing an overloaded mind. This isn't about giving you another enormous list of things you "should" be doing. It's about understanding your options and working out what could actually help you.
🌬️ Mindfulness and tools for calmer days
Simple, practical techniques you can use when your mind is racing, anxiety creeps in or everything simply feels a bit too much.Things you can genuinely take home and use in real life.
✍️ Your own time to reflect
We'll use journalling and guided reflection to help you step away from the noise and think about where you are now — and where you want to go next.Sometimes the answers are already there. We just haven't been quiet for long enough to hear them.
🫧 Hot tub, countryside and proper downtime
Yes, this is about making meaningful changes. But it's also a retreat. So there is absolutely time for soaking in the hot tub, walking, reading, chatting, laughing, napping or sitting somewhere beautiful doing very little indeed.Rest is part of the plan.
📖 Your introduction to The Menopause Plan
During the retreat, you'll begin creating your own practical framework for what happens next. You'll identify the areas that matter most to you and the small changes that could have the biggest impact once you're back home.So instead of leaving thinking "I really must look after myself better", you'll leave knowing what that actually looks like for you.
🍋 Your recipe booklet to take home
You'll leave with recipes and inspiration from the retreat, so some of what you've enjoyed in Devon can become part of everyday life too.
📞 A follow-up coaching call
Because coming home is often the difficult bit.Good intentions meet emails, washing, work, family and a diary that's already too full.So your retreat doesn't simply end when you leave Devon. We'll have a follow-up call to see how you're getting on, what's working, where you've got stuck and what might need adjusting. You won't be sent home with a notebook and a cheery "good luck".We'll make sure the changes you've chosen have a chance to become part of your life.
What you're really taking home
Yes, you're paying for the accommodation, food, yoga, coaching, workshops and everything else that's included. But that's not really why you come. You come for the chance to stop.To be looked after. To understand yourself better. To remember what it feels like to have some energy left for you.To have conversations you've been putting off having with yourself. And to go home knowing what you want to do next.A few days in Devon. But hopefully, the beginning of changes you'll feel for much longer.

Your Devon Retreat at a glance
You've read this far.Maybe you've already started imagining yourself here.So here are the practical bits.
📍 Where
Beautiful rural DevonCountryside. Fresh air. Space to breathe. And enough distance from everyday life to properly switch off.
📅 Choose the dates that work for you
The Devon Retreat runs on several dates, so you can choose the one that fits best with your life. You'll see all currently available retreat dates when you book.Because finding time for yourself can be difficult enough — I don't want finding the right weekend to be another reason you put it off.
💚 Just 7 women
This matters. There will never be more than seven women on each retreat. No big groups. No getting lost in the crowd. No feeling like you're on a corporate away day with matching water bottles.Keeping the retreat small means I have time for you.It means conversations can be honest, coaching can be personal and there's space for everyone to be heard. And it creates the kind of atmosphere where seven women who arrive not knowing one another can very quickly find themselves talking, laughing and saying:"Oh my goodness, I thought that was just me."
🏡 Choose how you'd like to stay
There are different accommodation options available, with prices varying depending on the option you choose. Most are designed for you to have your own private space — somewhere to close the door, exhale and enjoy a little time completely to yourself. But perhaps you've been reading this thinking:“I'd love to do it… but I'd really rather come with someone.”You can.One of our accommodation options sleeps two, so you can come with a friend and share the experience together.Maybe there's someone in your life who could do with a few days like this just as much as you could. The friend you keep saying you need to spend more time with. The one you have the brilliant conversations with but never quite manage to organise that weekend away.Or the person you immediately thought of when you started reading this page.Send her the link. This could be the thing you actually stop talking about doing and finally book. And if you're coming on your own? Please don't let that stop you.You won't be the only one. With a maximum of just seven women, this is deliberately designed to feel small, warm and welcoming. There are no established groups you're expected to somehow fit into and no pressure to be sociable every minute of the day.Come alone and enjoy having your own space.Come with a friend and share it.Either way, these few days are yours. You'll see all the available accommodation options and prices when you choose your retreat dates, including the option that can be shared by two guests.Whichever you choose, the retreat experience remains the same — all the coaching, sessions, food, activities, support and follow-up are included.
💷 Make it work for you
You don't have to pay for your retreat all at once.Payment plans are available, allowing you to spread the cost in the run-up to your stay. You'll be able to see your accommodation choices, prices and payment options before you confirm your booking. No surprises.Just choose the combination that works best for you.
Everything else is taken care of
Once you've booked, you can start looking forward to being the person who isn't organising everything for once.Your retreat includes your accommodation, all meals, drinks and snacks, menopause-informed yoga and movement, group coaching, one-to-one coaching with me, menopause and wellbeing sessions, mindfulness, guided reflection, your introduction to The Menopause Plan, your take-home recipe booklet, downtime and your post-retreat follow-up coaching call. And yes…there's a hot tub.
The only thing I can't give you more of is places
With a maximum of seven women on each retreat, places are intentionally limited. And that's exactly how I want it.Small enough to feel personal.Small enough to have proper conversations.Small enough that you don't have to fight to be heard.Small enough that by the end, it feels less like you've been away with a group of strangers and more like you've shared something rather special.
Ready to choose yourself for a change?
You don't need to arrive confident. You don't need to know anyone. You don't need to be at breaking point. And you definitely don't need to have worked out exactly what you want from the next chapter of your life. That's part of what these few days are for.Come as you are. We'll give you the space, support and practical tools to work out what you need next.
Choose your retreat dates and accommodation
Maximum 7 women per retreat. Different accommodation options and payment plans are available.Come as you are. Leave with a clearer idea of where you're going.
