This retreat was focused on actionable love, a concept that I did not truely grasp until a few days following the retreat and reflecting back. The outreach program touched me deeply in my soul. Truely blessed to have been a participant with three amazing leaders, and to observe first hand their incredible skills and love. When we arrived at the children’s cancer center, it was heart wrenching to observe how exhausted, hopeless and weary the mom’s (none spoke English) appeared to be while they deep dove to try and care for their kids and show them love from the little bits of capacity they still had available, and observe the metamorphosis occur as Meg, Kelly and Greg gathered them in a group and had them laughing and full of joy and making life long friends with the other moms in the wing that they never had even spoke with and now have a friend going through exactly the same thing and the same time and together they learned self regulation tools that they desperately need but would never have had a clue about or how to obtain- all while having fun for the first time in a long time, evidenced by the loud laughter and utter joy etched on thier faces, while at the same time I sat masked up on the floor playing with a non-verbal 2yr old with Down Syndrome and terminal cancer and finding a way to reach him and see his joy . None of this I would thought possible for me to ever be involved in, it was truely a gift from the Divine, as spirit of the universe flowed through Meg, Kelly and Greg. That experience alone was worth all I have in this world, but for my own kids. As far as the rest of the retreat, it was very well organized with three of the most skilled leaders (each with different specialties) who seamlessly wove the 4 elements together, truely live Actionable Love, and I learned and further developed my understanding of yoga concepts and useful tools for everyday living in my real world in South Florida. If your looking for a party disguised as yoga retreat, go elsewhere, if instead you are looking for something that will positively impact the world and touch your soul deeply while learning and embodying the spiritual aspects of yourself - which is what yoga is truly about, next year’s event is something you simply can not miss as does not exist elsewhere. Finally, the leaders were very careful and clear that our visit and time at the children’s’ cancer center was about connecting to them through our hearts and soul, embodying love in action and that we are not the wealthy (to them at least) interlopers there to make us look and feel good (like look at me on social media see how cool I am helping these people) and using them for that purpose; instead, very intentionally it was the exact opposite and warmly received as it was clear to all- this was the divine / love in action- giving everyone in that room an indescribably wonderful and profound experience that touched our souls deeply and will never be forgotten. To that end, I feel weird writing this, am not a participant of social media and never write review, but doing so simply so that others may read and understand such an incredible life experience exists if they want it.
