The Valparaíso excursion was a standout experience and an easy recommendation. The combination of stunning scenery, lively wildlife, and thoughtful guiding made it a perfect day. Journey from Santiago Luciano picked us up at our hotel and drove us toward the coast, and the drive itself became part of the experience. The route through the foothills of the Andes and past the beautifully kept winery estates was absolutely gorgeous, setting the tone for the day. ​ Fish market and sea life At the seafood market on the coast, Juan met us and immediately visited engaging and fun. Watching the sea lions and seabirds compete for scraps was hilarious and mesmerizing, and the bustling market atmosphere was something we could have happily watched for hours. ​ Harbor and city views From there, we boarded a boat to see Valparaíso from the water, which really highlighted the scale of the port and its massive container ships up close. Seeing how the harbor operates from the sea gave a fascinating perspective on the city’s working waterfront. ​ Hills, murals, and food Later, we rode a historic funicular up into the artistic quarters of Valparaíso, where colorful murals and street art cover the walls at every turn. The views, artwork, and ambiance were unforgettable, and we capped it off with an excellent seafood meal followed by ice cream. ​ Recommendation for Perro Tour Perro Tour delivered exactly the kind of day we were hoping for, and more. Juan is a superb communicator who really listens and tailors the itinerary to match your interests and pace, which makes the tour feel like it was designed just for you. Juan Victor planned a very interesting and full walking tour with us. He kindly set up a video call in advance to find out about our interests and discuss possibilities. He was also very generous with information and suggestions for other parts of our visit to Chile. He met us at the bus station and accompanied us back there at the end of the day. We saw many of the classic sights and streetscapes. He was very friendly and engaged in wide ranging conversations during the tour as well as answering our many questions. It was absolutely worth the price for the quality of the tour and the safety it provided us in this city. We wished we had had a little longer before we had to return to Santiago so that we could have visited even more parts of the city!
